Abington High School and Whitman-Hanson Regional have been playing 100 years of Thanksgiving football. These two football teams have been meeting on the field since 1910 and is one of the oldest high school rivalries in the country, and NSC restrooms has been invited to join the fray! NSC Restrooms will be providing the portable restrooms for the hundreds of fans and alumni who are expected to attend this time honored tradition. With history in the making, NSC is proud to be the company chosen to help celebrate.
This Thanksgiving Day, marks the 100th anniversary, and special programs have been added to commemorate the big event. The pre-game festivities begin with a banquet on Friday night, November 19, which will be held at Whitman-Hanson. Following the banquet will be a special program that will focus on the history of the rivalry featuring a video and remarks from individuals and current and past coaches who have been involved in the game for decades.
“This is a major event in the histories of these two schools and we are working very hard with our friends at Abington High to make sure it is memorable – not only for the kids, who will be playing in the game this year, but also for the fans and other participants,” said James Daley, Whitman-Hanson’s athletic director. “This is among the oldest high school football rivalries in the country and the game has long been a cultural institution in Abington, Whitman and Hanson, so the events we have planned to commemorate its 100th anniversary are meant to highlight the significant place it has held in the lives of generations of kids in all three towns.”
